Last month at 10th Planet Van Nuys we worked using the backstep pass to get to the saddle. I remember learning this set up a few years ago from Reilly Bodycomb’s Top Rock Dvd set. I really like this set up because it does not require a lot of crazy movement and can be used to pass as well.
Since many of the people in my gym are now super hip to the backstep to saddle entry I have begun playing around with new submissions from the backstep. One of my favorite’s right now is the kneebar. The set up is very similar to the saddle entry but with a few tweaks. Check out the video to learn this very effective setup.
