A new year means it’s time for a new set of yearly goals.Instead of setting three goals this year I wanted to try and focus more and only set two goals. Below is what I plan on working on in 2017.
#1 Master the Back
Last year I spent a lot of time focusing on mastering the Kimura. While I would not say I have obtained mastery with the Kimura, I do feel that focusing on one move helped me grow as a Jiu Jitsu player. This year I want to focus on mastering the back. I know that the back is a huge position to master so I plan on taking baby steps. For the first quarter of the year I want to focus on controlling the back. I feel that if I can get really good at controlling the back that finding submissions will be easier.
#2 Roll More
Over the past few months I have gotten pretty lazy in class. During some classes I maybe get one roll in. This year I want to be more intentional with getting more rolls. For the first quarter I am planning on getting at least 3-4 rolls in per class. To help motivate me to roll more I told a few people at my gym my goal. I’m hoping that the fear of letting others down will help motivate me to roll more.
