January 1, 2013.. The time to set some new years resolutions that we tend to break by February 1st. I plan on not allowing that to happen to me. I am going to set three “Resolutions” or goals that I want to accomplish by January 1, 2014.
Goal #1 Mas Leg Locks
It’s no secret that I like Leg Locks. This year I want to continue to learn more Leg Locks. 2012 was the year that I went from doing a few leg locks to pretty much basing my entire game around Leg Locks. Now that I have had 2012 as a year to really learn the basics of the moves, I want to focus on fine tuning and learning more entrances to Leg Locks.
Goal #2 Earn A Darker Colored T Shirt
One of my resolutions this year is to keep working towards earning my Purple Belt from Coach Alder. It has been two years now since I earned my blue belt and since then my overall game has progressed nicely. This year I plan on testing as much as possible, drilling even more, rolling even more, possibly competing, and doing anything else that I need to do to show Coach Alder that I’m ready for a new T Shirt.
Goal #3 Curriculum Guru
Ever since I started teaching the fundamentals class over at 10th Planet Van Nuys, I really wanted to develop curriculum for our class. As it stands right now myself and the other instructors are doing a great job sturcturing the classes and choosing the right moves to teach. I want to create a curriculum because we are getting a new crop of coaches in and I don’t want them to have to go through the same test period that I did. My main goal is to create a program that is so good that we can hand anyone the book and they can be successful.
