My Training Goals For December

I am a big believer in practicing what you preach. Yesterday I told you to tell someone your monthly training goals. Today I wanted to share my goals for the month of December. If you see me down at 10th Planet Van Nuys feel free to chat with me and see how I am doing in meeting my goals.

I am going to attend 10 classes this month.

With the Holidays and a vacation coming up it is going to be very easy to start missing classes. Some how around this time of year my couch is looking more and more comfortable. Knowing this I need to set a training goal for my attendance. My goal is to push myself to go to at least 10 classes this month.

I am going to continue to use the Avellan guard pass when free rolling.

I really really like this pass. It’s simple and effective. Since implementing this pass into my game I have felt more confident with my guard passing. Last month Coach Alder
showed us a variation of this pass that I want to continue using. My goal is to continue to use the Avellan Guard Pass when I am in my opponent’s open guard.

I am going to continue to use the Hand Pressing Foot Flex when rolling.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of training with Coach Herzog and he showed me the Hand Pressing Foot Flex. At the time I didn’t think much of the move but it has recently become one of my go to submissions when I am attacking the legs. My goal is to continue to get better at using this move.

If you need someone to share your goals with feel free to leave a comment below, hit me up on Twitter, or stop by 10th Planet Van Nuys!

  1. Great goals Ryan! Loving it!
    My goals for December are:
    1. Continue training through the holidays. Don’t miss any of the classes I don’t normally miss!
    2. Continue using the Avellan Guard Pass and work on the variation of it from Half Guard
    3. Rep some of my Half Guard Sweeps because that’s one of the things missing a bit from my game!

Thanks for the inspiration and great read Coach Ryan!
